NED University of Engineering and Technology and ICOMOS Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the 3rd International Conference on Architecture (CArch 2027), scheduled to take place in January 2027. The MOU was signed on September 3, 2026, marking an important step toward strengthening academic and professional collaboration in architecture, conservation, and the built environment.

The upcoming conference, titled “Contested Architectural Identities: Memory, Architecture Conservation and the Built Environment,” will bring together researchers, academics, professionals, and students to engage with questions surrounding architectural identity, memory, conservation, and contemporary built environments.

NED University will serve as the parent institution responsible for organizing the conference, while ICOMOS Pakistan will participate as a supporting partner, contributing intellectual and logistical support. Both institutions will work together to broaden the conference's outreach, circulate the call for papers, engage relevant scholars and researchers, and contribute to scientific and technical sessions.

The MOU also opens new avenues for intellectual cooperation and academic and professional discourse between the two institutions. With this collaboration, CArch 2027 aims to create a platform for dialogue and networking around the complex relationships between memory, architectural identity, conservation, and the built environment. The MOU represents a shared commitment to fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening connections between academia and the professional heritage and conservation community.

The MOU was formally signed by Dr. Anila Naeem, Chairperson, Department of Architecture and Planning, NED University, and Usman Sami, President, ICOMOS Pakistan.
